Keep track of permission slips with one photo
Snap the slip when it comes home. Mapa saves the trip, the due date and the cost, and one of you takes the job.
Short answer
Snap the permission slip and send the photo in the Mapa chat. Mapa saves the trip, the due date and the cost as an event and a to-do, and you can undo any of it. One adult taps “I’ll handle it,” and you can ask Mapa to remind you both the day before.

What Mapa saves from it
From the example slip. Each line is a record you can open, change or undo.
- Event: Aquarium field trip · Fri, Oct 23 · 9:00 AM to 3:15 PM
- To-do: Sign and return the permission slip, with $12 · by Wed, Oct 21
- Note: bag lunch and a jacket, with the photo of the slip attached
- Who’s on it: nobody yet, until an adult taps “I’ll handle it”
How it works
- Snap the slip when it comes home, and send the photo (JPEG or PNG) or a PDF in the Mapa chat.
- Mapa reads the dates and the cost and saves them straight away. Check them against the photo, and undo anything it got wrong.
- One of you takes it. Until then, Mapa shows “Nobody’s on this yet” next to the job.
- Ask for a reminder, like “remind us the day before.” Each adult gets it by email or phone notification, whichever they picked.
What it won’t do
- Sign the slip or send it back. The signature and the trip to the backpack stay with you.
- Pay the school. Mapa notes the cost; you pay the way the school asks.
- Pick who handles it. The job waits for an adult to take it, and Mapa flags it while nobody has.
- Read what it can’t see. A blurry or cut-off photo can miss a date, so glance at the saved date next to the photo.
- Open forms inside a school app. If the slip lives in ParentSquare or another app, screenshot it and send that.
Questions parents ask
What if Mapa reads the date wrong?
Check the saved date against the photo, which stays with the record. Change it, or undo the whole save.
Can both parents see the permission slip?
Yes. Every adult you invite sees the same to-do, the photo and who’s on it. Kids don’t get accounts.
Does Mapa sign or submit the form?
No. Mapa keeps the due date, the cost and the reminder. Signing the slip and sending it back stays with you.
What about permission slips that come by email?
Forward the email to your family’s Mapa address for the text. If the slip is an attachment, snap or upload it in the chat, because attachments in forwarded emails aren’t read.
