Maple is closing on Dec 31, 2026. What to do with your family’s data

Maple says accounts close and all data is deleted after Dec 31, 2026. Export first, then pick a replacement. Here are 6 options, and where each one fits.

Short answer

Maple says it has been acquired by Wander and will sunset on Dec 31, 2026, when accounts close and all data is deleted. Export or save what you need now. For the kids’ school emails, forms and health records, Mapa is the simplest place to start again: forward this week’s emails, snap the forms, and every job gets one adult’s name.

What’s happening, and when

Maple’s home page now shows a short notice. It says Maple “has been acquired by Wander and will sunset on December 31, 2026.”

Your account stays active until Dec 31, 2026. After that, Maple says, “the account will be closed and inaccessible.”

Your data stays accessible until the same date. Then, in Maple’s words, “All data will be deleted and there will be no way to recover it once Maple is officially shut down.” That includes Maple’s connections to Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook and TeamSnap.

Annual Maple subscriptions won’t renew. Monthly subscriptions stay active until Dec 31, 2026.

The notice also thanks the families who used Maple, and says Maple helped “move the conversation around the mental load at home forward.” If Maple did that for your family, the habit of sharing the load comes with you, whatever app you use next.

Export your data first

Do this before you set up anything new. There’s no recovery after Dec 31, 2026.

  1. Log in to Maple at app.growmaple.com while your account still works.
  2. Follow Maple’s export steps. When we checked in September 2026, the notice recommended exporting but didn’t list the steps. It says Maple will share “guidance, resources, and recommendations” before the end, so watch the app and your email from Maple.
  3. Save a copy of anything you can’t export. Screenshots work for recurring pickups, school contacts, allergy notes and the lists you use every week.
  4. Open your Google, Apple or Outlook calendar and check that the events you need are saved there. Maple’s notice says its connections to those calendars end too.
  5. Put everything in one folder you control, on your computer or your own cloud drive, and name it with the date.
  6. Set a day to finish, well before Dec 31, 2026. December fills up fast.

What to look for in a replacement

  • How things get in. Some apps connect to your Gmail and read it for you. Others give you an address to forward emails to. Choose the one you’re comfortable with.
  • Who can see it. Check that your partner, a grandparent or a sitter can join, and what each person sees.
  • Who does each job. A calendar shows what’s happening. It doesn’t always show who’s bringing the cupcakes.
  • Reminders that reach the right adult, not only the person who set things up.
  • Where it runs: native apps, a web app, texts or a screen on the kitchen wall.
  • Export. After this, you’ll want an app that lets you take your data with you.
  • Price for the whole family, checked on the maker’s site.

The options, in one line each

Each line is based on the maker’s own site, checked in September 2026. Prices change, so confirm before you pay.

  • Mapa, our pick for the kids’ paperwork: forward school emails or snap forms, and Mapa saves the dates and to-dos, puts one adult’s name on every job and reminds you both. It’s a web app in early access, with no native app yet.
  • Sense: the closest match to Maple’s mix. It has a shared calendar, lists, meals, chores and native apps, and you forward emails or send photos, PDFs and voice notes. It also has a guide for families leaving Maple.
  • Fambot: connects to your Gmail with read-only access and texts you a plan each evening. It works with Gmail and Google Calendar today, and it’s free while in beta.
  • Ohai: an assistant you text. Send a text, forward an email or speak a request. There’s a free version, and Premium starts at $9.99 a month.
  • Cozi: a free shared calendar with grocery lists, to-dos and a meal planner. You type things in yourself on the free and Gold ($39 a year) plans; Cozi Max ($79.99 a year) adds automatic import from your inbox.
  • Skylight: a touchscreen calendar for the kitchen wall, with chore charts kids can tap. Screens start at $169.99, and the optional Plus plan is $79 a year.

Choose Mapa if…

  • The part you’ll miss most is the school stuff: the emails, the forms and the dates that change.
  • You want forwarded emails to wait for an adult’s OK before anything lands on the plan.
  • You want one adult’s name on every job, and the adults involved reminded before it’s due.
  • You want vaccine and allergy records kept with the original photo.
  • You’re happy to start fresh with this week, instead of moving years of old data.

Choose an all-in-one app like Sense if…

  • You used Maple for meals, groceries and chores, and you want all of that in one place again.
  • You want native iPhone and Android apps today.
  • You want a family display on a tablet in the kitchen.
  • You have a calendar file to bring over. Sense says it can import an .ics file.

How to start with Mapa without importing anything

Mapa doesn’t import from Maple or any other app. You start with what’s in front of you this week.

  1. Invite the other adult: your partner, a grandparent or a caregiver. Everyone sees the same plan.
  2. Forward this week’s school emails to your family’s private Mapa address. Mapa reads the email text and suggests events and to-dos, which wait in the Inbox for an adult’s OK.
  3. Snap the forms on the fridge, like the field trip slip and the picture day flyer. Photos and PDFs sent in the chat save straight away, and you can undo any of it.
  4. Attachments in a forwarded email aren’t read. If the school sent a PDF, snap it or upload it in the chat.
  5. Add the health records you’ll want at the next checkup. Snap the vaccine card, and Mapa keeps the original photo with the record.
  6. Tap “I’ll handle it” on the jobs you’re taking. Upcoming plans with no name get flagged, so the gaps show.

What Mapa doesn’t do

  • Import from Maple, Cozi or any other app.
  • Read your inbox. It only sees what you forward or send.
  • Meal planning, grocery lists, chore charts or kid rewards.
  • Connect to TeamSnap, or to school apps like ParentSquare, ClassDojo or Remind.
  • Sync with Google Calendar or iCloud yet. Both are built and being tested; today Mapa has its own shared calendar and can export an .ics file.
  • Run as a native iPhone or Android app. It’s a web app for now, and an iPhone app comes later, with no date promised.
