How to get school app messages by email: ParentSquare, Remind, ClassDojo and more

The settings that send ParentSquare, Remind, ClassDojo, Seesaw, Google Classroom and SignUpGenius messages to your email, checked Sep 23, 2026.

Short answer

Most school apps can send messages to your email once you turn it on. In ParentSquare, choose email under Notification Settings. In Remind, check the bell next to your email under Notification Preferences, because installing the app switches email off. ClassDojo emails only parents who don’t use its app, so a screenshot is the route there.

Email is where you can search, label and forward a school message. App inboxes are harder to share with another adult, and each one has its own settings.

Every step below comes from each app’s own help center, checked Sep 23, 2026. Menus change, so if a step doesn’t match your screen, search that app’s help center for “notifications.”

ParentSquare: turn on email, pick Instant or Digest

ParentSquare lets you set Posts, Direct Messages and Alerts & Notices for each school.

  1. On the web, click your name, then Manage Account, then Notification Settings. In the app, tap the menu icon (☰), then Account, then Notifications.
  2. For Posts, turn on email and pick Instant (each post as it arrives) or Digest (1 summary each evening).
  3. For Direct Messages, pick email, text, app or any mix. If both app and text are on, ParentSquare tries the app first and texts only if that doesn’t come through.
  4. Repeat for each school if your kids are at more than 1.

Remind: check the bell next to your email

Remind switches off text and email delivery when you install its app, so you don’t get the same message twice. If messages stopped reaching your email or phone, start here.

  1. Log in to Remind on a computer.
  2. Click your name in the upper left, then Account settings.
  3. Open the Notification Preferences tab.
  4. Click the bell icon next to your email address to turn it on. Use + Add device if your email isn’t listed; Remind sends a 4-digit code to confirm it.
  5. In the app, tap the gear next to your name, then Notifications, then the 3 dots next to a device to turn notifications on or off.

If a teacher added you by phone number, Remind asks you to reply YES to a text from 81010 before any messages arrive. Remind also asks parents not to add their phone number to their child’s account, because that can merge the 2 accounts for good.

ClassDojo: email works only without the app

ClassDojo’s help center says parents who use only the website get email notifications. Once you download the app, you get push notifications instead, and it’s not possible to get both.

Notifications cover private messages from the teacher, new Class Story and School Story posts, approved Portfolio posts and event reminders the teacher schedules.

The help center doesn’t promise the full message in the email. If a ClassDojo email only tells you there’s something new, open ClassDojo and take a screenshot of the message. That screenshot is the honest way to get the words out of the app.

Emails not arriving? ClassDojo suggests checking that you’re reading the inbox for the email on your account, looking in Spam, Junk, Promotions or Social, and making sure you’re not logged in to the app.

Seesaw: pick All for email

  1. Tap your profile icon in the upper left corner.
  2. Tap the Account Settings gear, then go to Parent Notifications.
  3. Under Email Notifications, choose All to get an email for each new post or message.
  4. Skip Once Per Day if you want the message itself: that summary shows how many new posts or messages there are, without the content.
  5. The SMS option (US and Canada) sends 1 daily summary without the content, and Seesaw doesn’t text you if push notifications are on.

Google Classroom: guardian email summaries

Guardians get summaries of their student’s work by email, and only after an invite.

  1. A teacher or school admin sends you an invitation email. Open it, click Accept, then Accept again. The invite expires after 120 days.
  2. Summaries list missing work, upcoming work and class activity: the announcements, assignments and questions the teacher posted. They don’t include grades.
  3. To change how often they arrive, click Settings at the bottom of any summary, sign in and pick Weekly, Daily (Monday–Friday) or No summaries.
  4. Nothing arriving? Summaries are off by default for each class, and they only work when your child uses a school Google Workspace account. Ask the teacher whether they’re on.

SignUpGenius: confirmations, plus reminders if the organizer turns them on

SignUpGenius sends a confirmation email the moment you sign up. Reminder emails are the organizer’s choice: they turn them on and pick how many days ahead. Sign-ups in the Slots Only format can’t send automatic reminders.

With a SignUpGenius account, you can also choose your own email or text reminders under Settings, then Notifications. If reminders land in spam, add [email protected] to your contacts.

Then keep it all in 1 place

Once the apps send email, make 1 label or folder called “School” and add a filter for each app’s sender. When a message needs action, pull out the date, the job, what to bring and who’s doing it.

For anything that stays inside an app, a screenshot works. It shows the date, the teacher and the words in 1 image.

Questions parents ask

How do I get ParentSquare messages by email instead of text?

Go to Manage Account, then Notification Settings. Turn on email for Posts and Direct Messages, and turn text off if you want fewer texts. Urgent alerts and attendance notices still come through.

Why did my Remind texts or emails stop?

Installing the Remind app turns on push notifications and switches off text and email delivery. On the Remind website, open Account settings, then Notification Preferences, and check the bell next to each email and phone number.

Can I get ClassDojo notifications by email and in the app?

No. ClassDojo’s help center says app users get push notifications instead of email, and it’s not possible to get both.

Do Google Classroom guardian summaries include grades?

No. They list missing work, upcoming work and recent class activity. For grades, Google suggests asking the teacher or your student.

Can I get all my school app messages in 1 place?

Not inside 1 app, but ParentSquare, Remind, Seesaw, Google Classroom and SignUpGenius can all send some messages to your email, where 1 label holds them. Screenshot the rest.
