Do you need OurFamilyWizard?

If a court orders OurFamilyWizard, use it. If you and your co-parent cooperate and just need school dates and jobs shared, a shared plan can be enough.

Short answer

If a court order or your parenting plan names OurFamilyWizard, or you need court-ready message records and expense logs, use OurFamilyWizard; Mapa isn’t a substitute. If you and your co-parent cooperate and just need school dates and jobs shared, a simpler shared plan can work. This page isn’t legal advice.

What OurFamilyWizard is for

OurFamilyWizard is a co-parenting app built around records. Messages stay on the record, and its site says they’re “unalterable and securely stored.”

It has a shared calendar for parenting time, with Yes/No answers for trade requests. Its expense log lets you set splits like 50/50 or 80/20, and OFWpay lets you pay each other back in the app.

ToneMeter and a Writing Assistant help you rewrite a message in a calmer tone. An Info Bank holds medical histories, insurance details, emergency contacts and school schedules.

The company says its records are accepted by courts in all 50 states. Lawyers and mental health professionals get free access, and kids and third parties get free accounts.

Choose OurFamilyWizard if…

  • A court orders it, or your parenting plan names it.
  • You need message records you can print or send to court.
  • You split kids’ costs and need a log of who paid what.
  • Talking to each other is hard, and a tone check or a paper trail keeps things calmer.
  • A lawyer, mediator or counselor needs to see your records.

When a shared plan is enough

Plenty of co-parents cooperate well. They don’t need a paper trail. They need the same school dates, and to know who has pickup on Fri, Oct 23.

For them, the hard part is the paperwork. The field trip slip came home in one backpack. The email reached one parent and not the other. The flu shot record is at the other house.

A shared plan puts those in one place both adults can see, with a name on each job. That’s what Mapa is for.

Questions parents ask

Do I have to use OurFamilyWizard?

It depends on your court order or parenting plan. If it names OurFamilyWizard, use it, and ask your lawyer about anything unclear. This isn’t legal advice.

How much does OurFamilyWizard cost?

As of September 2026, plans run from $110 a year for Basic to $299.88 a year for Max, with lower monthly rates on 2-year plans. Each co-parent has their own account, and there’s a fee waiver program for families in financial need.

Can Mapa replace OurFamilyWizard?

Not if you need court records, message logs or expense tracking, because Mapa has none of those. It’s for co-parents who cooperate and want school dates, forms and jobs in one shared plan.

Can a grandparent or stepparent see the plan in Mapa?

Yes. You can invite the other parent, a grandparent or a caregiver, and everyone sees the same plan. Kids don’t get accounts.

Does OurFamilyWizard have a free trial?

Its pricing page offers a full refund within the first 30 days of a plan. It also has free or discounted plans for parents in financial need.
